The Vision Behind the OM RAM Temple
The sacred sound OM has been resonating in Vedic culture since time immemorial. This sound of the spiritual universe is heard in various religions as Amen, Aum, Om, affirming the existence of an eternal supreme Reality – IT IS.
BRAHMAN – the Supreme Cosmic Consciousness – has manifested itself through various prophets, saints and divine incarnations in different countries, nations and cultures during the course of human evolution.Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, Lord Buddha, Lord Christ, Lord Maitreya, the Prophet Muhammad, and others are manifestations of the same, singular, Supreme Cosmic Consciousness.
Through this continuous divine self-sacrifice, humanity has repeatedly received a new impulse, giving it the opportunity to evolve and progress.
The sacred sound RAM literally means “Celestial fire of Exuberance and Enchantment”. This is how BRAHMAN, the Supreme Cosmic Consciousness or God is usually described in Hinduism. In the Padma Purana it is written: “The Pure Consciousness, with whom Yogis (Saints and Seers) merge themselves through meditation and enjoy eternally a divine bliss with immense pleasure, is Ram.” (Suhrit Dey „Pronam: Shree Ramji and Shree Hanumanji“). Ram is one of the names of the avatar Vishnu, which etymologically means "the one who has permeated every element of the universe" ("Thousand Names of Vishnu").
The holy name RAM also refers to Lord Ram, who lived in India thousands of years ago and is regarded by Hindus as an incarnation of God.
About Lithuania
Lithuania, a country washed by the Baltic Sea in northern Europe, was one of the last nations in Europe to adopt Christianity.
In her book "The Balts in Prehistoric Times" (1985), M. Gimbutienė, a scholar of Baltic religion and mythology, writes: "Although early historical sources do not leave detailed descriptions of the religion and mythology of the Balts, some of the observations made here are quite correct. Such is the sentence by the chronicler of the Teutonic Order, P.Dusburg, describing the Prussian faith: “They (the Prussians), not knowing the (Christian) God, deified the whole world: the sun, the moon and the stars, the thunderbolt, the birds and the four-legged animals, even the toad. They also had sacred forests, fields and waters." (Dusburg P. Chronicon Prussiae, 1326).
Indeed, it is true that the Balts “deified the entire world” and lived in a world that was sacred— different from the one we know today. Gimbutienė writes: “The first missionaries to the Baltic lands described, with surprise and indignation, the beliefs and customs of Prussia, Lithuania, and Latvia—then the last strongholds of paganism in Europe. They were especially astonished by cremation rites, the eternal sacred fire, belief in reincarnation, and the worship of sacred groves, woods, trees, waters, snakes, serpents, and toads, as well as the presence of many gods, goddesses, and spirits. (…)
Lithuania officially joined the Christian Church in 1387. (…) Yet Lithuania was not fully Christianized until the late 16th or early 17th century. Thus, it is not surprising that customs, beliefs, legends, folktales, songs, and folk art remained filled with pagan elements—only partially overshadowed by Christian ones. Since the Christian layer is relatively recent, it is easily distinguishable. What lies beneath it are the ancient strata: some still-living elements of Baltic mythology that reach not only into prehistoric times and the Proto-Indo-European heritage, but even deeper into more ancient epochs.”
The Vedas are some of the oldest scientific, philosophical, and religious texts known to humanity, written in Sanskrit. They were a system for understanding existence, the foundations of which can be found in all world religions. We also find them in ancient Baltic culture.
Linguists have been studying the similarities and connections between the Lithuanian and Sanskrit languages for centuries. Language is not only a means of communication, but also a way of expressing one's worldview. The similarities between these languages show that, over thousands of years, the most ancient and archaic layers of understanding existence and our roots of origin have been preserved.
Place names are very important to researchers of the origins of nations, because they are where historical, cultural, and philosophical content survives the longest. The sound RAM is found in the names of Lithuanian towns, villages, and localities, for example: Ramygala, Ramučiai, Ramuva, Romainiai, Rambynas Hill, and others. We also give this root to the names of our children: Ramunė, Ramūnas, Ramutė, Ramojus, Raminta, Ramilė, and so on.
The unique sound RAM has a similar philosophical meaning in both Lithuanian and Sanskrit.
In Lithuanian, Ramuva or Romuva referred to a special calm place — a sanctuary or house of prayer. The Lithuanian word ramybė (“serenity” or “peace”) refers not only to the calming manifestations of nature but also to a tranquil mind — one that no longer hinders the soul’s ability to enter meditation or prayer, which sooner or later opens the gates to self-knowledge.
Lithuania has been and continues to be a crossroads between East and West – a meeting point for cultures, philosophies and religions that expand the boundaries of human worldview and knowledge. Harmoniously coexisting, they help sincere seekers discover their own path to spiritual knowledge.

Since his first visit to Lithuania in 1999, Dr. S. Dey has fascinated listeners with his research topics, his excellent knowledge of Vedanta, and his profound spiritual insights, which were the result of many years of meditation practice.
Over the years, a group of students gathered in Lithuania, for whom Dr. S. Dey became a meditation teacher, able to explain the teachings of Eastern philosophy and various scriptures in a scientific and understandable way.
The teacher's deep devotion to Lord Ram and His most faithful disciple Hanuman, who is glorified daily in the verses of the Shree Hanuman Chalisa, the teacher's disciplined and extremely pure life, and numerous scientific studies by Dr. S. Dey - all this inspired a group of Lithuanian followers to create a sanctuary dedicated to devotional meditation and spiritual awakening.
SCIENTIFIC NOTES ON THE MANTRA “OM RAM“
Prof. Dr. S. Dey, while working at Eastern Illinois University (USA), conducted a study in the acoustics laboratory of the University’s Department of Physics. By chanting the mantra OM RAM, the professor measured the energy amplitude and other parameters emitted by this sound combination. As a teacher of yoga and meditation, Prof. S. Dey recommended that his students use this mantra, and over time, the effects of this practice became evident. The waves of a certain frequency emitted by this sound combination help to calm the mind and eliminate negative vibrations. Health also improves as a result.
Prof. Dr. S. Dey recorded scientific notes on the effects of the OM RAM mantra, which we present to the visitors of this website:
“Obviously the holy mantra “OM RAM” is rooted in the Vedic texts. It has been found experimentally that this mantra miraculously cures many different forms of sickness.
This medicinal property should be investigated scientifically. I conducted this study experimentally on several devotees of Shree Ramji and in each case, the study was successful.
So, a natural question is: Why?
Any spoken word produces a three dimensional sound wave. It moves up and down as it propagates. Its maximum height is called its amplitude. If a is the amplitude, then the energy carried by the wave is proportional to a2.
When two similar waves with the same amplitudes follow each other, the resulting amplitude will be the sum of the two amplitudes.
Both the sounds OM and RAM produce very similar waves practically with the same amplitudes.
And these waves are three dimensional. So the resultant energy is significantly large in comparison with other similar sound waves happening in our biological frame.
Certainly a human body can apply this energy to itself curing many forms of illnesses.
Irregularities of sound waves happen in our lungs, heart and other organs when we become sick. With a stethoscope a doctor listens to these irregularities of the sound waves and diagnoses the problem. These irregularities are routinely controlled by medicines. These techniques could be accomplished by sound therapies. These techniques are now being applied to cure some neurological disorders, chronic pains and even to cancer patients. Similarly sound therapies generated by natural sounds are being projected onto lesions which rectify the physical disharmony bringing back an abnormal organ into its normal state. This is sound therapy for cancer.
This is pure science. It is independent of devotion and faith.
However, if we add devotion to this equation, a devotee does it with more sincerity and dedication. So naturally, he/she gets more benefits thereby enjoying a more disease-free life.
Sometimes a regular practitioner of the mantra, whom people often call a Guru, could impose the waves of the holy mantra OM RAM upon a sick person and cure his sickness. Ordinary people call it a kind of magical power of a spiritual person. If this sick person has been initiated by the Guru, he can apply the mantra on himself and get cured. From a scientific point of view this may be called a kind of sound therapy.
Scientifically it has been found that during meditation the irregular beta waves of the brain have been transferred into more regulated alpha waves and then into more powerful uniform theta waves. This increases the power of the brain and corrects many neurological disorders including formation of tumours.
However, the mantra OM RAM is indeed much stronger than simple sound waves. The mantra carries powerful light waves which carry packages of photons which have no mass and this motion does not require any medium to travel through. Vedic science calls this a material manifestation of a fraction of the power of Consciousness or Brahman or the Soul.
For thousands of years saints have been performing these treatments applying the three dimensional most powerful invasive waves of the holy mantra OM RAM.
The holy centre of OM RAM now being built by the devotees of Shree Ramji in Lithuania under the leadership of Renata will be a Centre for Healing of Mind and Body (CHMB).”
A Space of Peace and Awakening
Reflecting on the future OM RAM temple, Prof. S. Dey said:
"Blessed is the space where the sacred mantra OM RAM will resound.
Here, the mind will calm down. A wave of peace, love, and devotion will flood the open heart.
The sound of OM RAM – this subtle vibration of the spiritual universe will awaken your true self. And you will feel that the Lord is alive. Alive in you.
Alive in everything: in the trees growing next to the temple, in the calm flow of the Šešupė River, and in every blade of grass growing here.
This living experience will testify to the power of the sacred mantra.
And that is happiness. That is beauty. That is the boundless grace of the Lord."
We hope that over time, this sanctuary will become a living haven for sincere followers – a place visited by pilgrims from all over the world.
